Services

I offer specialized mental health services both in-person, at my Mississauga office, and online across Ontario, focusing on evidence-based treatments tailored to your unique needs.

My practice centers on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).  I provide in-depth case conceptualization to help you understand the patterns behind your challenges. I am highly experienced in Exposure Therapy and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for those managing anxiety and OCD.  I also incorporate DBT skills for emotional regulation but cannot offer full DBT program as I am not set up to provide skill groups and 24-hour phone coaching.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based approach that helps individuals understand the connections between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It's a practical, goal-oriented therapy designed to empower you with strategies to manage life's challenges more effectively.

In CBT, we work together to identify unhelpful thinking patterns and behavioural habits that might be contributing to distress, anxiety, depression, or other mental health concerns. By learning to recognize and challenge these patterns, you can develop healthier coping mechanisms and more adaptive ways of responding to situations. CBT emphasizes an active role in your own recovery, providing you with tangible tools and skills that you can apply in your daily life, fostering lasting positive change and improved well-being

Exposure Therapy

Exposure Therapy helps you move beyond avoidance by directly testing feared predictions through behavioural experiments. Unlike older models focused solely on waiting for anxiety to fade, my approach emphasizes inhibitory learning—the process of building new "safety memories" that compete with old fear responses. We design active experiments to create "expectancy violations," proving that your feared outcomes are unlikely or that you can manage the discomfort. By intentionally varying these exercises across different contexts, your brain learns that safety is generalized, leading to more durable, long-term resilience rather than just temporary relief.

Exposure Response Prevention for OCD

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is a specialized form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy considered the gold-standard treatment for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). The process involves two main components: exposure and response prevention. During exposure, persons with OCD are gradually and systematically introduced to thoughts, images, objects, or situations that trigger anxiety or obsessions.

Response prevention involves making a conscious choice to abstain from performing compulsive behaviors or mental rituals usually used to neutralize that anxiety. Through repeated practice, the brain learns that the feared outcomes are unlikely or that the distress is manageable without rituals, eventually weakening the OCD cycle.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based approach designed to help individuals manage intense emotions and improve interpersonal relationships. My practice focuses on the individual therapy aspect of DBT, where we work collaboratively to balance acceptance with meaningful change. We prioritize building a "life worth living" by integrating core DBT skills—including mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness—directly into our sessions.

Please note that while I provide comprehensive individual skill training, I do not offer the group therapy or 24/7 phone coaching components found in a full, multi-modal DBT program.
