While our lives get painfully confusing,

Our minds need to stay clear.

Welcome!

I want to meet you in your lived reality—not with platitudes, but with genuine understanding and competence.

My practice is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). While some criticize CBT for its alleged coldness and disinterest in deeper concerns, rest assured: CBT can address both immediate symptoms and the deeper sources of your distress.

I believe that therapeutic expertise is only effective when delivered through a warm, human connection. When you arrive, I invite you to pour a cup of tea or coffee, grab a blanket, and settle into a comfy couch.

My role is to provide the clinical skills you need to change within the warmth and stability you need to heal.

An Honest, Practical Approach

to Stress, Anxiety, and Depression

Stress, anxiety, and depression are more than fleeting moods or passing worries—they are states of being that can color everyday life, sometimes subtly, sometimes overwhelmingly. Stress often begins as that unmistakable sense of pressure, when the demands on your time, energy, and emotions feel relentless. For some, stress is episodic, tied to shifting responsibilities or life transitions. For others, it evolves into a chronic state that erodes resilience and makes recovery from exhaustion increasingly difficult. Burnout, a term that has become all too familiar, describes this ongoing depletion—a state where rest is no longer restorative, motivation dwindles, and cynicism grows. It’s a reality faced by many caregivers, professionals, and parents, not simply a matter of mindset but actual demands of a life.

Anxiety and depression often follow suite. It’s not always a matter of formal diagnosis. Many people live with low energy, or a gnawing sense of dread without ever receiving a clinical label. For some, it is a persistent restlessness—an uneasy sense that something might go wrong, accompanied by racing thoughts, tension, and difficulty concentrating. At its worst, anxiety may erupt into panic: sudden surges of fear that are hard to explain and harder to contain. Depression, on the other hand, is not always sadness. Often, it’s a dulling of experience, a feeling of being weighed down, a loss of motivation, and a growing belief that nothing can really change.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) offers a practical and evidence-based approach to these challenges. I have chosen CBT because it is honest—transparent about what we can change, how change happens, and what you can expect along the way. It is also effective, supported by decades of research and a continually evolving set of strategies. Unlike approaches that focus only on insight or relaxation, CBT gets to work quickly. It begins with case conceptualization: together, we outline how your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and experiences interact to create the difficulties that you face today. This collaborative process helps tailor interventions for your unique needs, making therapy both focused and flexible.

Few Words About Me

I am a Registered Social Worker (MSW, RWS)  and a cognitive behaviour therapist in private practice with over 25 years of clinical experience. I am a Diplomate with the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies and possess certification with the Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies. These credentials represent years of specialized training, conference presentations, and work at hospital based clinics. I opened Village Centre CBT to be able to provide high quality therapy in a relaxed setting where we can work at a pace that feels comfortable.

I have over 25 years of experience in treating depression, stress, anxiety as well as relationship concerns.

This site offers a lot of technical information, but I assure you that actual therapy is in plain language and usually comes with a warm cup of tea or coffee. --Therapy is hard work, so we might as well make ourselves as comfortable as possible.

Concepts and Clichés

Concepts and Clichés is a blog dedicated to exploring the real-world application of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in everyday life. This space offers practical insights, expert advice, and thought-provoking reflections tailored for both prospective and current clients and anyone else who is interested in building a deeper understanding of common concepts.  Here, you’ll find accessible explanations of CBT principles, common misconceptions (“clichés”), and how these concepts can be used to navigate life’s challenges.
